Engineering Manager, Infrastructure (Device Trust)
1Password · Remote (United States | Canada)
About the role
Leads the Device Trust Platform team at 1Password, the engineers who run the lower-level systems behind the Device Trust product and, over time, Device Security and the wider 1Password security platform. The role reports to the Senior Manager, Engineering for Device Trust and manages senior and staff engineers, with more hires planned as the platform's scope grows.
The team works end to end, from data pipelines, storage and infrastructure through to the application code above them, handling large volumes of device telemetry for customers who treat the service as Tier 0. This manager owns availability, capacity, incident response and the team's on-call rotation, and runs blameless reviews after failures. Multi-region failover and disaster recovery are tested through regular exercises. Observability is treated as a product of its own, with SLOs, alert quality and dashboards in Datadog. The manager also sets the direction for how these platforms extend to other 1Password products, and handles planning, design reviews, hiring and career growth.
The company wants at least three years managing software engineers, including senior and staff levels, plus a background in high-volume, highly reliable data systems such as ingestion pipelines, streaming and large datastores. Experience running multi-region services, owning production observability and leading a mixed infrastructure and application team is expected, along with enough hands-on development to review code. Ruby on Rails, Go, osquery or endpoint telemetry, and Kubernetes on AWS are pluses. The role is remote within the US and Canada.
