VP, Engineering
1Password · Remote (United States | Canada)
About the role
Leads Platform Engineering at 1Password as vice president, reporting to the CTO and owning the strategy, organisation and delivery of the core service and development platforms the password and access security company's products run on. The VP is accountable for making those foundations secure, reliable and scalable so that other teams can ship and run their own services quickly and with clear ownership.
The role sets the platform vision and roadmap, leads a multi-year change to 1Password's engineering architecture and operating model, and builds shared platforms, supported paths and engineering standards, including safe and measurable agentic engineering practices. It designs the organisation and its ownership model, sets measurable outcomes for reliability, adoption and operational health, owns investment and capacity planning with Finance, and represents engineering in senior leadership discussions. Developing leaders across the technology organisation and shaping its culture are part of the job.
1Password asks for ten years in software engineering with at least seven in leadership, ideally across infrastructure, SaaS and cybersecurity, and a record of owning critical platforms end to end, from adoption and reliability to security, cost and incident response. Experience running cost-effective mission-critical infrastructure, leading multi-year transformations and scaling high-performing teams is expected, along with strong communication with C-suite peers. The role is remote from the US or Canada.
