Sr. Engineering Manager - Full Stack

Leads full-stack engineering at Illumio, the Zero Trust Segmentation vendor, managing a group of nine or more engineers that includes other managers and answering for delivery of their work from start to finish. The role is based at the Sunnyvale headquarters.

The senior manager steers the design, build and documentation of engineering solutions, sets engineering and operational standards and tracks them with product, engineering and scrum metrics. They agree priorities with product management and the business, coordinate dependencies with other Illumio engineering teams, work within the guidelines set with architects, and help senior leadership plan the product roadmap. Hiring, shaping agile teams, and coaching the people in them are central to the job, as is working with business owners and technical teams in India and elsewhere.

Illumio wants about seven years leading teams, including a group of nine or more engineers and managers, on top of six or more years building cloud-based, high-performance products. The posting looks for depth in distributed systems and cloud services built with Java, Spring Boot, Go or Python on Azure, AWS or GCP, two to three years running such systems in production, exposure to large data platforms such as BigQuery or Redshift, CI/CD tooling, SQL and NoSQL databases, and enough hands-on skill to prototype. Agile experience is expected. The job is on site five days a week, and offers depend on US export-control eligibility.
