Data Privacy Director

Natera  ·  US Remote

About the role

Helps run and mature Natera's enterprise privacy programme across its commercial, clinical and product operations as Data Privacy Director, a hands-on role reporting to the Vice President, Data Privacy. The director may also guide and mentor privacy staff and outside resources as the programme grows.

The work covers privacy impact assessments, regulatory analysis and risk-based advice, plus privacy reviews of contracts and legal engagements with recommendations prepared for counsel to approve. A central part of the job is acting as the link between Privacy and Product and Engineering: building privacy-by-design into software development and turning requirements into practical controls and reusable technical patterns. The director also puts in place consistent frameworks for decisions on data access, sharing, secondary use and partnership data, sets guardrails for sensitive data, AI and ML training data and analytics, and governs data flowing through marketing technology and third-party sharing. With Medical Affairs, Clinical Operations and Data Sciences, the role advises on privacy for clinical trials, real-world evidence studies and research use of clinical data, aligning consent and data flows with HIPAA, IRB and GCP expectations.

Natera wants eight to ten years in privacy, data governance or compliance with growing leadership responsibility, strong command of HIPAA, GDPR and CCPA/CPRA, experience with privacy engineering and clinical research privacy, and broader healthcare compliance knowledge. An IAPP certification such as CIPP or CIPT is highly preferred. The role is remote in the US.
