Senior Engineering Manager, AI Platform

Semgrep  ·  San Francisco Office

About the role

Leads the Workflows team at Semgrep, the code security company, which builds a system that combines traditional code scanning tools with LLMs to find, validate and fix security issues better than either can alone. The system has three parts the team owns: an SDK for composing CLI tool calls and agent invocations into workflows, an environment that runs those workflows on a schedule, and a library of ready-made workflows, built with help from the platform, infrastructure and security research teams.

The senior engineering manager leads three to five engineers while still contributing code. The role works with product management and engineering leadership to set the team's direction and quarterly roadmap, sets weekly goals while keeping the longer product vision in view, coaches senior engineers toward leading others, and makes hands-on technical contributions to understand and deliver the team's work.

Semgrep wants at least three years leading software engineering teams, familiarity with agile and milestone-based delivery, and a real interest in coaching. The ideal candidate is strong in at least two of these: designing and supporting a public SDK or API, orchestrating data workflows with tools like Metaflow or Argo, and using AI on security problems. The role is hybrid, with at least three days a week in the San Francisco office.
