Senior Security Engineer - Data Security
Sigma Computing · San Francisco, CA and New York, New York
About the role
A hands-on engineer on Sigma Computing's Security Engineering team who protects the company's data wherever it lives, from laptops and SaaS and collaboration apps to cloud platforms, data warehouses and AI systems, preferring to build its own tooling and automation where practical.
The engineer builds services for data discovery, classification, access governance and monitoring; matures CASB, DLP, DSPM, SSPM and insider risk capabilities; tunes DLP prevention across operating systems and scattered datasets, automating much of it with LLMs and agentic AI; and reviews data architectures and access models through threat modelling, working with IT, Privacy and Legal. Sigma wants five or more years in security or data security engineering, production tool building, and depth in classification, encryption and key management; Snowflake or Databricks experience helps. The role is in the New York or San Francisco office four days a week.
