Engineering Manager

Leads and grows a team of engineers at Socket Security as the engineering organisation scales. The role is remote-first within the United States, with quarterly team off-sites.

The manager stays close to the technical work, helping the team reason through architecture and trade-offs without making every call personally, and partners with engineering and go-to-market colleagues so the team works on the right problems. Much of the job is creating clarity: setting priorities when problems are ambiguous, weighing long-term technical investment against near-term business needs, improving how the team works by removing bottlenecks and automating toil, and building a culture of trust, ownership and accountability in which engineers make their own decisions.

Socket wants someone who has led engineering teams where priorities and solutions are often unclear, who steps toward unowned problems between teams, and who brings strong technical judgement and product sense, including comfort talking directly with customers. Experience managing remotely, ideally across a globally distributed team, is expected. TypeScript or JavaScript experience is a plus, though sound engineering fundamentals matter more than any particular language.
