Security Software Engineer (Starlink)

A security software engineer for Starlink at SpaceX in Hawthorne, within Starlink Product Security, responsible for building security into software across the constellation and its ground systems.

The engineer develops cryptographic and other security-critical services, adds security features to Starlink routers, dishes, gateways and satellites, designs security into production processes, builds and tests prototypes of improvements, and strengthens live systems. SpaceX asks for a STEM degree or two years of security software development, coding in Python, C++ or Go, and hands-on work securing operating systems, distributed systems or enterprise infrastructure. Strengths in applied cryptography, network or OS security, authenticated boot, adversary detection or vulnerability research are valued, as is TPM and HSM experience. Extended hours are sometimes expected.
