Security Software Engineer (Starshield)

Builds security into Starshield, the government-focused counterpart to Starlink, as a security software engineer on SpaceX's Starshield software team in Hawthorne.

The engineer designs and implements cryptographic and other security-critical services, ships security features for Starshield hardware from dishes and routers to gateways and satellites, secures factory processes and the network services they use, prototypes and validates improvements, and hardens systems in production. The role calls for a STEM bachelor's degree or two years of security software development, experience in Python, C++ or Go, and a background implementing security for operating systems or distributed systems. Applied cryptography, secure boot, network protocol knowledge and TPM or HSM work are preferred. Obtaining and holding a Top Secret clearance is a condition of employment, and extended hours are sometimes required.
