Sr. Network Security Engineer (VPN)

About the role
A senior engineer on SpaceX's Network Security Engineering team who owns the company's remote access VPN estate, built mainly on Tailscale and WireGuard alongside IPsec and SSL. The engineer designs and stands up that infrastructure from scratch, including routers, exit nodes and connectors, then runs it: access policy, client rollout across desktop and mobile platforms, zero-trust integration with firewalls, monitoring, patching and hard connectivity troubleshooting. Python automation and CI/CD pipelines keep deployment and policy enforcement repeatable.
SpaceX wants five or more years in network security (eight without a degree), deep Linux and networking skills, and ideally a record of running large multi-site remote access platforms. Reading Go and knowing BGP, OSPF or SD-WAN help. Fully on-site in Hawthorne.
