Two Six Technologies · Laurel, Maryland
About the role
Leads a Two Six Technologies team that researches and evaluates hardware and software for defensive cyber operations, working on site in Laurel, Maryland. The associate director gives hands-on technical leadership, managing and mentoring technical leads who each supervise one or two staff, and brings military or government cyber mission experience to judging whether prototypes are useful in operations.
The work covers network sensors, FPGA-based firewalls and other networking hardware, and software written in languages such as Rust or Python. The role sets technical priorities and plans for research, evaluation and validation, designs and oversees prototype testing with defined procedures and measures of effectiveness, steps into analysis and testing when the team needs help, and turns customer needs into practical technical plans. It communicates findings and risks to customers and leadership, supports vulnerability research when a customer requires it, builds repeatable evaluation processes, and takes part in hiring and performance management as the team grows. Travel is about 20%, including customer meetings in Arlington and Herndon.
Two Six asks for ten years in incident response, vulnerability research, network engineering or software development, experience managing technical leads, support for military or government defensive cyber missions, and a record of evaluating security hardware or software and testing prototypes. Familiarity with Zeek, Suricata or Splunk is preferred, and an active TS/SCI clearance is required.
