Cybersecurity Engineer, Senior Manager
Two Six Technologies · Arlington, Virginia
About the role
A hands-on senior manager at Two Six Technologies in Arlington, Virginia, researching and evaluating hardware and software for defensive cyber operations and managing one direct report. The role uses military or government cyber mission experience to assess customer needs and candidate solutions such as specialised network sensors, FPGA-based firewalls and software in Rust or Python.
The senior manager plans and carries out research, evaluation and validation for assigned work, designs and runs prototype tests with procedures and measures of effectiveness, does much of the technical analysis personally, and helps solve technical problems. Communicating findings, risks and recommendations to customers, leadership and engineers, clarifying requirements with customers, supporting vulnerability research when needed, and documenting test activities are all part of the job, along with setting priorities, giving feedback and supporting the direct report's development and taking part in hiring. The post is on site with about 20% travel, including meetings in Herndon and Laurel.
Candidates need seven years in incident response, vulnerability research, network engineering or software development, experience supervising technical staff, a background supporting military or government defensive cyber missions, and experience evaluating security hardware or software and testing prototypes. Strong written and spoken communication and an active TS/SCI clearance are required; Zeek, Suricata or Splunk experience is preferred.
