Backend Senior Software Engineer, Identity

A senior backend engineer on Vanta's Identity team, which is working out how AI agents can safely act on a user's behalf as Vanta extends agent features across MCP, the CLI and the Vanta Agent. The engineer helps design identity primitives for that world, including consistent permission checks on every surface and a way of attributing every action an agent helps with so it can be audited. The role also leads multi-team projects, works with Security on protecting customer data, supports design reviews and mentors junior engineers.

Vanta wants backend development experience, strong knowledge of OIDC, SAML and SSO or of RBAC and policy-based authorisation, a record of building shared platform services and complex data models, distributed systems and migration experience, and a security-minded approach. Remote in the US.
