Security engineer, detection and response

About the role
A staff-level detection and response engineer on WRITER's security team, based in its San Francisco or Seattle office and reporting to the head of security operations, defending the company's AI platform, training data and model deployments. The engineer designs detections for AI-specific threats such as prompt injection, model extraction and data poisoning, builds automated response playbooks, coordinates incident response and forensics across cloud, AppSec, enterprise and AI security teams, hunts for threats across GPU clusters and training infrastructure, builds detection-as-code and telemetry pipelines, and joins a 24/7 on-call rotation.
It asks for three to five years in security operations, detection engineering or incident response protecting AI, HPC or large distributed systems, Python, KQL or SPL, and SIEM and forensics experience. Hiring is open at several levels.
