Director, Software Engineering - Common Platform Services
Zscaler · Santa Clara, California, USA
About the role
Leads Common Platform Services in Zscaler's Zero Trust Exchange department, reporting to the VP, Software Engineering. The team's work spans all Zscaler products, with a focus on Zscaler Workflow Automation, the Unified Authorization service and other shared services, along with the platforms and developer tooling other engineering teams depend on.
The director runs large cross-functional teams, owns the technical roadmap and operational execution, and grows senior technical talent. A major part of the role is modernising the whole software development lifecycle around an AI-native approach. The director also stays close to the technology, making decisions on AWS and GCP and building enterprise-scale web services for workflow automation and notification channels that integrate with Salesforce and the cloud providers. Scalability, efficiency and developer experience are the main measures of the platform.
The company wants 15 or more years of software engineering, including at least ten in technical people management and product or service delivery across public and private clouds, along with experience building cloud services for massive scale and resilience. US citizenship is required because of the customers involved. Domain experience in security, networking or enterprise workflow software such as ServiceNow would stand out. The role is hybrid, three days a week in the San Jose office.
