Manager, MDR & Threat Hunting

Zscaler  ·  Bellevue, Washington, USA; Remote - USA; Santa Clara, California, USA; USA - Update Location

About the role

Leads a customer-facing team of threat hunters and MDR responders at Zscaler, reporting to the Director, MDR & Threat Hunting. The manager answers for both the operational quality of the service and the health of its customer relationships, and the role is remote in the USA.

The job starts with building the team: recruiting, structured technical development, candid performance feedback and career ladders that keep strong people. During active intrusions and difficult investigations, the manager is the senior escalation point for customer security teams, including CISOs and SOC leads, giving clear direction under pressure. Recurring customer engagements, from weekly to quarterly, turn threat actor activity, policy posture and attack surface risk into practical guidance that shows the value of the service, particularly in quieter periods. The manager also sets and challenges the quality bar for MDR and Managed Threat Hunting deliverables, with review standards that improve on customer feedback and hunt results.

The company wants an understanding of threat actor TTPs mapped to MITRE ATT&CK, proficiency in at least two EDR platforms including writing detections, detection and response skills with network or web proxy telemetry, and a record of managing customer-facing teams and communicating with executives. Earlier people leadership at an MDR or security vendor, and certifications such as GCIH, GCFA or OSTH, would stand out.
